Story Behind The Book
I had been a parenting counselor since my children were born. They were good kids and did as they were told giving me every reason to believe that I am the best parent, vis-à-vis believing that my ways of parenting were the best.
Well, they eventually grow up and develop a brain of their own. I learned, albeit the hard way.
The struggle began when they were too sure of themselves and even surer that I did not know anything. At first I resisted, tried to use the mom-power but their little bodies seemed to be fitted with a mighty brain. Then I started giving in to them and to other pressures of life. Interestingly that is when the lessons of life started to unfold. More interestingly, from the very source that I was trying to overpower all this while- my kids!
The experience was overwhelming and I just knew that my first book is ready to be birthed.
Meanwhile, my counseling center started to crowd with more and more parents with the common Parenting worries, modern Parenting worries, Parenting fears, with concerns for healthy Parent-child relationship, Challenges in Parenting wanting to know ways of parenting to raise happy children. I knew that all my earlier set ways of guiding these parents were not going to work with this generation, we had to find a new way- and that new way had to come from them- our children of the new millenium.
I listened, I changed, I evolved and suggested the same to other parents, there is a new way to parenting- watch then, listen to them and learn – Remember- it is called Parenting and not Childing.
